About West University of Timişoara
The West University of Timişoara was founded as a state university in 1962 in the city of Timişoara, Romania.
The main university campus exists on the outskirts of Timişoara city centre, and plays host to the bulk of the university’s academic facilities. While recreational areas are provided by the university, as well as accommodation for undergraduate and postgraduate students, the main attractions for those studying at the university can be found in the city of Timişoara.
Timişoara is a major city in Romania, close to the borders with Serbia and Hungary, and provides a wealth of cultural attractions for those living there, examples of which include numerous music festivals and museums, in addition to a number of other universities and institutes of higher education. A canal city, Timişoara also provides modern trappings, such as numerous retail parks and outlets as well as a modern transport network.
In terms of academic offerings, West University of Timişoara has 11 different faculties with a wide range of undergraduate degrees available. In addition, opportunities for postgraduate study are also available, in addition to chances for international students to come and further their horizons.
Aside from this, university-operated research centres also provide for students who wish to make their own contribution to their chosen field of study. West University of Timişoara has produced a number a famous alumni, including Nobel Prize-winning author Herta Muller and mathematician Titu Andreescu.
